How offers work on Vinted, and how to answer them

A buyer offers less than your price. You can say yes, say no or suggest another number. Here is what each answer does, the limits Vinted sets, and how to choose your lowest price before the first offer arrives.

A buyer can offer up to 40% less than your price. You accept, decline or send a counter offer. An accepted offer is not a sale: the item stays for sale until the buyer presses Buy now and pays, so decide your lowest price before the offers come.

What happens when a buyer makes an offer

The buyer presses Make an offer on your listing or in a conversation, picks a price and sends it. The offer lands in a conversation with you. From there you choose what to do with it.

An offer only covers the item. The buyer cannot offer less on postage or on the Buyer Protection fee, and you cannot change those either. Source: Making an offer (suggesting a different price)

The limits Vinted sets on offers

  • The lowest offer is 40% below your price. On a 20 EUR item, nobody can offer less than 12 EUR.
  • A buyer can send up to 25 offers per day.
  • There is no limit on the number of offers you send as a seller.
  • Your own counter offer follows the same floor: at most 40% below the listed price.

Vinted's help centre does not give a time limit for an offer, so do not count on one running out by itself. Answer it, even if the answer is no.

Your three answers: accept, decline or counter

Accept if the price works for you. The buyer then sees a Buy now button in the conversation at the new price.

Decline if the price is too low and you do not want to negotiate. A short, polite line in the chat helps, because a buyer who is told no kindly often comes back.

Counter if you are open to a middle price. You decline their offer and press Make an offer in the same conversation to send your own number. The buyer can accept it, decline it or answer with a new one. Source: Make an offer or suggest a different price

After you accept, the buyer still has to pay

Saying yes does not sell the item. Vinted's terms say the item is sold only when a buyer clicks the buying button and their payment is accepted. Until then, the buyer is free to walk away, even after you accepted their price. Source: Vinted terms and conditions

The item also stays open to everyone else. Another member can buy it at the full price while your buyer thinks about it. Offers are not binding on either side, so whoever pays first gets it.

If a buyer goes quiet after you accept, a friendly reminder in the chat is fine. Keep in mind that nothing is reserved for them while you wait.

The fee follows the new price

Buyer Protection is 5% of the price agreed between you and the buyer, plus 0.70 EUR. When you accept a lower price, the buyer's fee goes down too. You still receive the full agreed price. Source: Vinted price list

Decide your lowest price before the offers come

Offers arrive at odd hours, and it is easy to say yes to a number you regret. Pick your lowest price when you list the item, while you are calm.

  1. Start from what it cost you

Write down what you paid for the item. If it was a gift or an old piece from your own wardrobe, the cost is zero.

  2. Add the profit you want

Decide the smallest amount you would be happy to make. That total is your lowest price.

  3. Check what similar items sell for

Look at listings like yours in the same condition. Vinted itself suggests looking at similar listings before you set a price. Source: Choosing the price for your item

  4. Set the asking price with room

If you expect offers, list a little above your lowest price. Then a counter still lands where you want it.

An example with small numbers

You bought a jacket for 8 EUR and you want to make at least 8 EUR on it. Your lowest price is 16 EUR. You list it at 25 EUR.

StepPriceWhat you do
Lowest offer allowed15.00 EUR40% below 25 EUR
The buyer offers15.00 EURBelow your lowest price, so you counter
You counter20.00 EURAbove your lowest price, below your asking price
The buyer accepts and pays21.70 EUR20 EUR plus a 1.70 EUR Buyer Protection fee, before postage

You receive 20 EUR in your balance. After the 8 EUR you paid, 12 EUR is left. If the buyer had offered 17 EUR, accepting straight away would also have been fine, because it is above your lowest price.

Offers work on bundles too

When a buyer puts several of your items in one bundle, they can make an offer on the bundle price. You answer it the same way: accept, decline or propose a different price. Source: Selling multiple items as a set

Add up the lowest prices of the items in the bundle first. An offer on the whole bundle can look generous and still sell one of the items below what it cost you.

You can make the first offer

You do not have to wait. When a member favourites your item or asks about it, you can send them an offer yourself. A small discount to someone who already likes the item often closes the sale. Source: Selling your items faster

How Flogit helps with offers

Flogit shows every open offer in one list and suggests a reply for each one, with the numbers behind it: your cost, your lowest price and what similar items sold for. Nothing is sent until you click. You can read more in Offers in Flogit.
