How to pack a Vinted parcel

Good packing costs almost nothing. Use what you already have, follow Vinted's few rules, and take one photo before you close the parcel.

Put the item in sturdy packaging that fits it snugly, fill the empty space, and seal it with strong tape. Fragile things always go in a box, not a plastic bag. Check the packed parcel fits the size and carrier limits, and take photos of the item and the packed parcel before you ship.

Why packing matters on Vinted

When you send an item with the prepaid Vinted label, Vinted asks you to pack it properly. Vinted's help centre says you may not receive a refund or compensation if you ignore the packing rules and the parcel is damaged in transit. Source: Packing an item

So a few minutes of care protects your money, not only the buyer's item.

What to pack it in

Vinted's rule is sturdy outer packaging that snugly fits the item. A cardboard box works. So does a padded bag or envelope, including the ones a carrier provides. A bag without padding inside is on Vinted's list of bad packaging. Source: Packing an item

You do not need to buy anything new. Keep the boxes and padded envelopes from your own deliveries, as long as they are clean, dry and not torn.

Remove any old labels before you send the parcel. Vinted's help page asks for this, so the carrier cannot read the wrong barcode.

How to fold clothes so they arrive neat

Fold the item the way a shop would: sleeves in, then in half or in thirds. A neat fold makes a smaller parcel. Knitwear and anything white can go in a clean plastic bag first, so a rainy doorstep does not ruin it.

Then fill the gaps. Vinted suggests bubble wrap, paper, foam or similar material, so the item cannot move and does not press against the outside. Scrunched paper is enough for most clothes.

Fragile items and electronics

For anything that can break, Vinted says to use a sturdy box, never a plastic bag. Separate each fragile item with bubble wrap or other cushioning, so two pieces never touch, and stick a Fragile label on the parcel. Source: Packing an item

Stay within the parcel size the buyer paid for

When you list an item, Vinted suggests a parcel size and shows each carrier's size and weight limits. Measure the parcel once it is packed, not just the item. The carrier may refuse a parcel that is too big or charge you extra. Once the buyer has paid for shipping, the parcel size and carrier cannot be changed. Source: Choosing the right parcel size

A soft item is easy to keep small. Fold it tightly and pick the smallest box or bag that still leaves room for padding.

Seal it and put the label on

Close the parcel with strong tape so nothing can fall out. Stick the shipping label flat on the largest side, with the barcode fully visible, and tape down its edges. For a bundle, put every item in the same parcel, each one wrapped so it does not move. Source: Packing an item

Take photos before you close it

Vinted recommends photos of the item and of the packed parcel, inside and outside, before you ship. If the buyer reports a problem in transit, the photos help sort it out faster.

The timing matters. After delivery, the buyer has 2 days to report a problem, or 14 days when buying from a Pro seller. If the parcel was damaged, the buyer sends photos of the item and the packaging, and Vinted investigates with the carrier. Source: Parcel was damaged in transit

Sellers can get compensation when a carrier confirms a parcel was lost or damaged, with a maximum of £500 on Vinted's UK page. Compensation depends on the carrier's confirmation, and Vinted's packing rules still apply. Source: Compensation for sellers when shipping with integrated labels

A thank-you note is optional

A short handwritten line is a nice touch and costs nothing. Keep it to a thank-you. Anything about the order belongs in Vinted's messages.

A packing slip in the buyer's language

When you print a shipping label from Flogit, a packing slip can come out on the same print, in the buyer's language. You still pack and post the parcel yourself. See how it fits with your sales in Flogit.
