Help Sales, customers & money Record an expense
Record an expense
Costs that belong to the shop, not to one item.
In Taxes, go to the expenses box. Enter the date, a description, a category and the amount. Press Add.
Expenses are taken off your Net profit. This is on the Trader and Mogul plans.
How to do it
-
Open Taxes
Scroll down to the expenses box.
-
Fill in the line
Date, description, category and amount. All four are needed. There is no default category.
-
Repeats?
Leave One-time, or pick Every month or Every year for a subscription.
-
Press Add
The expense appears in the list. The cards at the top update.
A monthly expense counts once for each month that has started. To end it, press Stop. Months already counted stay.
The categories
| Category | For example |
|---|---|
| Supplies | Boxes, tape, mailing bags, labels. |
| Sourcing | Travel to a market, entry fees. |
| Fees | Fees not already taken from a sale. |
| Subscription | Tools you pay for each month. |
| Other | Anything else. Write a clear description. |
| Postage I paid myself | Only postage that left your own pocket. |
Not Vinted postage invoices
On Vinted the buyer pays the postage. Vinted then bills you for the label. The two cancel out.
So do not enter those invoices as expenses. Your profit would look lower than it is.
Things you buy to resell
Next to the expenses, the sourcing box keeps a list of what you bought to resell: item or lot, where, how many and the price.
The item and the price are needed. It is a record for you. It does not change your profit. For profit, put the cost on each sale.
A pack of mailing bags in March is easy to forget by January. Add it the day you buy it.
